On November 5, Guilford Technical Community College hosts its first-ever TEDx event a free, one-day gathering for students, faculty, staff, and Guilford County neighbors who believe education changes lives, careers create impact, and unlocked human potential is the most powerful force there is.

The Day

One day. Three sessions. Talks from real people in our own community about second chances, careers that change lives, and what happens when human potential leads the way. Between sessions, connect with GTCC programs and community organizations, meet the people behind the ideas, and be part of something that doesn't happen every day.

Session 1: Education as a Second Chance—or a First Real One.
Stories from students whose decision to pursue education didn't just change their path — it changed everything that came after it.

Session 2: From Classroom to Career—Where the Boom Happens.
Voices from across GTCC's programs who are already making an impact before they've even graduated.

Session 3: The Real Boom Isn't Technology—It's Unlocked Human Potential.
What happens when human creativity and instinct take the lead, including live demonstrations from GTCC's performing arts community.

Have an Idea Worth Spreading?

We're looking for speakers from the GTCC community — students, faculty, and staff — whose story connects to one of our three session themes.

Here's what you need to know:

Talks are 18 minutes or less
No speaking experience required
Selected speakers receive coaching and preparation support
The application process is competitive. Priority goes to GTCC community members, with additional spots open to Guilford County voices

What is TEDx?

In the spirit of discovering and spreading ideas, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At TEDxGTCC, TED Talks videos and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection. TEDxGTCC is independently organized under license from TED.
